I love this one Steve, mine is just about to open too!

31 May, 2010

There was 1 open when I purchased this and 3 closed but ready to burst open. So thought i'd go with that one as all the others either had no buds, a few buds or all buds fully open. Think I made the right choice

Oh, definitely! Why buy one with no buds when you can enjoy them like this! It's a beautiful flower isn't it, and when the outer sepals fade, the inner ones stay on for ages...lovely!

Oh defently. The top flower was wedges in between the stakes and folage. Only noticed it when I got it home and planting it. Then it was a nightmare trying to remove it without damaging it.

Don't look like this anymore. Not sure if snails/slugs or wind damage has caused it to perish!! :-(

Oh Steve, I know exactly how you feel!! Give it a good water, cut off all the drooping bits and it will come back. Maybe not this year, but it will! And get a type 3 to plant near it so you have something a bit more reliable!! Lord Herschell is very pretty.....Princess Diana.... Etoile Rose......Florida Sieboldii.....Flore Pleno.....Gazelle.....need I go on...? :))

Yes please go on coz i've not heard of 1 of them! lol

Are all these Cematis's?

Have a look at www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/ Steve! There are over 2,000 different clematis vars. in cultivation. These ones above are just some of the ones I grow (I do have a bit of an obsession with them) and none of these will wilt on you and none are too big for your fence either! You could always have a look at my garden page if you want to see them, there are photos of quite a lot of them on there. This year I'm going to try to get all the gaps filled and have a photo of every clem in my garden.....it will be tough as I doubt all of them will flower, they never do!

Wow, knew there was a lot but not that many. lol
Added that webpage to my garden folder!!
