Musk turtle

This morning I spotted this little musk turtle crawling across the road, heading towards my house. I pulled her out of the path of a speeding pickup truck and watched for a while. At this time of year, these girls are searching for a spot to nest. She came from quite a distance for such a little turtle; there are ponds on some of the properties down the road, but not especially close to here. I guess she'd been looking for just the right place. As I watched from the porch, she made her way across my front yard, then over the driveway, and then she was gone.

Yes, often. The species we generally see here are eastern box turtles, musk turtles, river cooters and snappers.

Wow! Amazing!
I googled them. Eastern box turtles and river cooters are beautiful.
Snappers are snapping turtles, I suppose, and they can be very huge!
I often came across sea turtles when I did scuba dive but not on the road!!!!!!!! Different world... :D

Wow, you came across a wild turtle.
