This is Houttuynia cordata 'Chameleon' It grew from the bottom of my pot and got into the soil and it took over a bed and the patio in no time. It took me 5 years to get rid (can grow in a pond to) I wrote a blog about it last year, Its a real thug much as I liked it and the flowers I would never touch it again. I still find bits and yank them out.

I have this plant too. When I lived in London it spread quite quickly. I have it here in Peterborough, it does not spread at all, but comes up every year.

At last I have the spelling of the name of this plant! I was given it by my dad who took it from his own garden and said it was called a Hootinia. I knew this wouldn't be the correct spelling but haven't been able to find anything about it as I couldn't decide how to spell it! I have just put it in my border, and will now be taking it back out and putting it into a large pot instead! Thanks for the info.

It will look lovely in a pot with little white flowers. Just dont stand the pot over a join in the patio or it will escape - set it in the middle of a paver etc. When it seems a bit pot bound pull some of the plant out by the roots from the top and it will soon fill in again, it likes lots of water.

Oh yes, doesn't this just invade! Planted it near a small pond, and just can't get rid of it now, and also tend to find that it reverts back to green in places! You have been warned, Redsong! Tee hee hee!

I would I have made them too! Cheap to grow and sell on! Leylandii was the biggest quick grow sell.

I never had one of those, but I once foolishly invested in 5, yes, I did say, 5, vincas, and to compound the problem, I even planted them in the ground~Oops, that was quite some mistake believe me, and just can't get rid of them now!! :~((
