Parterre with onions

As part of our rotation cropping and companion planting this season we have our parterre full of onions, shallots and garlic, most of them autumn sown. The roses and other flowers for cutting will no doubt enjoy pest-relief from this!

my back garden was like this when i moved here but i put a lawn down now i will share the photo with you unfortunately though my neighbour has very large leylandei and it is overcrowding my handkerchief tree its not officially called that but what can you do he dosent even cut the grass. I dont look in that direction anymore i just think what a shame somebody would really like that garden like me???a bit of a moan there thanks for your help with the roses i will follow that advise.
