One thing I would suggest doing is this: focus on one area first, get that set up the way you want it, then move to something else. There's a lot you want to do, and I'll tell you from personal experience, it can become overwhelming. When I bought my house 4 years ago nothing had been done to the garden area for a long time. Clearly there were gardens at some point; they'd been marked off with stones, but there were no plants. I made a big mistake by putting plants here and there and everywhere, when I should have chosen one section for an initial project. It wasn't until last year that I decided to try a different route. I don't have much money to spend so I really had to plan carefully.

thanks for you input will take it on board, the frount is more or less done, side where stone an wall is ok, just on the 2 sided back now,

what about putting weed suppressant down and then bark.

i had an idea of putting old carpet i have down, then weed cover, then stones??
i have had bark before all the cats love it, so going woth stone like the side,
