The Thyme Step

The Thyme Step

Invention of mine for bridging gap between steps and lawn! Bees absolutely love it which makes getting on the steps a bit of an adventure!

Thank you everyone! It's evergreen of course, but the flowering time is very short...shame it doesn't last longer!

Is thyme invasive like mint ?
I've often thought about using thyme here but haven't done because i thought it was.

Well, this was about four plants and it's been there for three years now....so I wouldn't say so Louise.

Does that go for all thymes then ?

I really don't know. I've grown a fair few and some get big, but only from the one root, so I would say not really! More like heather in that it gets too woody and you have to replace it...lavander too!

this one is 'creeping' so it does spread out, but as you can see, it's easy to control and pull up.

It's nice to have thymes growing where you walk. I'm trying to do it in my herb garden.

I love a herb garden Hywel. Mine didn't work, not enough sun, but I still grow quite a few in pots, in and around the greenhouse.

That's good anyway. It's nice to have them dotted about the garden. I like that so that I can smell them everywhere.

I love when you go abroad and the heat makes them release their oils and you can smell them on the breeze! Wonderful - never get that here :(
