Hi Elke, I thought I recognised this beauty, a gardening friend recently gave me a piece of Cornus canadensis - now I know its common name of Canadian or Eastern Bunchberry.

I see that GoY gives 'Creeping dogwood' as the common name. Equally appropriate, I think. It grows all through the woods, roadsides and hedges here. It should do well where you are. We have family near Ulverston.

I visit a place called Cartmel twice a year - which, believe it or not, is about 10 miles from Ulverston!
