Who is this please anyone????? She needs a name :(

Thanks M, am still trying to identify this one to no avail. Its seems similar to Mrs N thompson but the central colour on the petals is much more subtle. Sooo frustrating. Any ideas always gratefully received....

Have you tried to google it? I have identified a few plants that way. :)

Oh hello - yes, google is my permanent friend in the 'minimised' window but it shows just how many clematis there are and some are bafflingly similar. I normally keep the labels in an envelope on my desk ( my glamorous life knows no bounds) but there isnt one for this - alas, poor orphan

It looks like Viola minihoney. It's beautiful. Does that name ring a bell? It's a group 3 clematis, flowers July to September....height 8-10 feet. Have a look at this link...http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/clematis-viola.html

hi karen, thanks for that, have just looked and yes, it certainly looks like it. The name isnt familiar which is unusual for me, cos i thought my memory might feel 'jogged'. Maybe too many brain cells have been lost along the way. It does definately look the same though. Well done you. Do you think i should label it on here or would that not be kosher??
14 Jul, 2010
I would go for it MH, but let me check and see if there are any other likely candidates first if you like....off to do it now.....
14 Jul, 2010
OK Mh! I've had a serious look a this now. I went to my fave. clem website: http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk and did several searches. I think I've narrowed it down to five possibilities, and I don't think it is Viola after all, now that I've seen some more pics. So, do any of these names ring a bell....Julka, Lady Betty Balfour (this one usually doesn't flower till August though), Klyo, Maureen (unlikely to be this one....I think..... as it has brown in the anthers and your pic seems to have totally cream anthers) or Serenata? I do love a challenge!

I knew you'd be in your eliment on this Karen! lol.
Stunning colour MH. Can't wait to find out what it is and its next on my shopping list! lol
14 Jul, 2010
I know, me too. There is another possibility. The Vagabond, but this is one I grow myself, and it's sepals are far pointier ...don't think it's that.
14 Jul, 2010
I think its possibly a Kiyo looking at the pic from the website!!
14 Jul, 2010
Wow, thanku Karen (see? posh!). You're a star. I'll refrain from Official Labeldom for the time being then. Bearing in mind I tend to buy clematis only from bog standard garden centres, B & Q or aldi, I wouldnt have thought it would be a rare or exotic one

No me neither MH. Viola has small flowers and lots of them. Your pic looks like quite a big flower...I'm guessing it's about4" across or so? Let me know if you think it could be any of the ones I suggested.....there are bound to be others with over 2,000 cultivars out there! btw, thanks for the name, i used to sometimes get Kaz at school and I really hated it! :))
15 Jul, 2010
Oooops, dont worry, kaz is out the window then. Thanks also to steve for your suggestion. Will try and get some more pics and once ive finished stuffing the chicken (oo er, missus), I'll measure the flowers.....
15 Jul, 2010
Your welcome MH. Just seen that Karen suggested kiyo aswell in a earlier message. Ooops, didn't see! lol
Should've gone to specsavers....actually MH, you should've kept the tag and we wouldn't be guessing!!! ;-))) just jesting
15 Jul, 2010
no, steve you are absolutely right - i normally do, in fact (saddo am i), i usually keep them in an envelope by the pc so i can look info up if i need to. See what i mean?? Saddo! (and yes, you MUST go to specsavers). Great advice coming from one who just almost (almost) put my shoes in the fridge. Stressful day and all that.............he he (and only minimal wine)
15 Jul, 2010
lol, I must be just as sad aswell as I have all my tags here by the PC aswell. Haven't got them in a envelope though although that sounds like a good idea!
Fancy almost putting your shoes in the fridge.....What you like ya nut nut!! ;-))

I think i was trying to show off and 'multi-task', apparently a female skill. Hmmm......wrong
15 Jul, 2010
So what you saying that your a man in drag?? lol ;-))
15 Jul, 2010
you may call me richard! :)))
15 Jul, 2010
lol, all the time or just weekends? ;-)
16 Jul, 2010
do you know what guys...after all that, I think it's Warsaw Nike!!
16 Jul, 2010
No, i definately said 'I'm Richard'! He he........i'll look up W.nike now......this could very well turn out to be the GOY Quest Of The Month........
Yes, I've had a look but I'm not sure about the shade of purple - I think I'm still leaning towards 'viola' (she doesnt mind)
16 Jul, 2010
lol. Is the colour of this flower in this pic the same as the actual flower?
I ask this as camera's can lighten/darken flowers to what they actually are!
17 Jul, 2010
yes i'd say its a true likeness - will try and upload some more today, if i can find the camera.......
17 Jul, 2010
No worries.
19 Jul, 2010
Errrm, well i have uploaded another pic but i couldnt get it to sit on the same page as this one - doh!
19 Jul, 2010
lol, you can't do that unless its on a blog!!!
20 Jul, 2010
Aaaaah so thats how everyone does it - thanks Steve, thats been bugging me for yonks. By the way, if for example, i was doing a sequence of 'before' and 'after' pics, should I upload starting at before or after so they read in the correct sequence on the blog??? was that in english or just something similar???????
21 Jul, 2010
Start with before pics then work your way down to after pics.
Once you download all your pics and have written your blog, you can preview before posting. If your not happy with anything you can edit before posting to site! x
