This is a one of a couple of seedling-grown trees that are unique to our garden. The species usually has green leaves, but the new foliage on this one is bright scarlet, quickly turning to a long-lasting deep plum purple that eventually fades out to dark olive green through summer. As a young tree it has survived a few scrapes with the Roe deer population, so it's very special to me. I will name and propagate it eventually.
