Ouch, it was so hard and dry, full of tree roots, half bricks, glass, plus numerous odd bits and pieces of pots etc. three barrow loads of grass and rubbish later.

A couple of rose climbers at the widest point and think roses and some low growing plants (maybe hardy geraniums) in the rest should take four or five roses in the main border. might try some ground growing clems also. not sure yet, I work and make up as I go along Kimmy666 thanks for your input

Oh dear have a list as long as my arm and ever growing for rose bushes,climbers, and ramblers, it will just mean I have to start off another border if I am to include them all. Looked at Halls today they only had a couple so will go and see what Silica has to offer when school is out for summer.
