The Pineapple guava is a South American shrub requiring a hot, sheltered position in full sun and well-drained soil. It reaches six feet in height and slightly more across. It has taken four years to start flowering and, in hot climates, these will be followed by berries

I just leave it in situ and mulch the roots with straw. It is in the sunniest spot in the garden with grit worked into the soil. It has come through the past two winters with minimal damage

Richard - I was pleasantly surprised as well. My two major casualties after last winter were the banksia and a vitex
