Black rat snakes are great climbers and this photo proves it! He's about 15 feet up and headed towards his favorite rotting branch.

Oh, they're all over the place here - probably the most common snake we have. I love them - they're big and cranky and they will solve your rodent problems. And they do get big - the record is 7 feet or so! The largest I've seen at my place is about 6 feet.
