Update on this....Its now going in the bin as we have hornets who also love this. Have a massive fear of hornets and wasps and also a 5 year old to think about. Shame as its a stunning plant but haven't been in the garden all week because of it!! It has to go i'm afraid.
Just doing a blog at the mo about it!!

Dont think its a Spirea but worth a look at them? Also have a look at Callistemon citrinus splendens - Red Australian Bottle Brush Plant? You may have a Mahonia japonica on the fence too?
