like this..would it work in a shrub border?

I chopped my 'concha' right down yesterday, left about a foot of growth. Above that it was dead. Today, I went to the local GC and they had a huge one outside the door about 5'tall....looked very dead. :( A lot of the plants that had been kept in the tunnel also looked very scorched, including your ceanothus thy....thingy. Very sad.

This one looks to be ok Karen (it always does look a bit tatty at this time of the year) I will give it a good trim when the weather improves.
Guy I have mine in a mixed shrub border and I think it works well.

Wouldn't be a bad choice as I think it's one of the hardier ones in my garden Karen

Yes, it looks similar to concha in it's leaf growth. I will wait and see....I think in five years time the fence will be completely hidden now.
