Strange fruit

Having posted a photo of our Pocket Handkerchief tree a couple of days ago, today I found that for the first time it has borne a strange fruit! (It must have heard me talking about it...)

Well, I guess I could try to germinate it. I'll watch as it develops...
PS My other hand is the one I use for gardening. It's absolutely filthy! ;)

See who else is growing Davidia involucrata (Handkerchief tree).
See who else has plants in genus Davidia.
Interesting! Are you going to try to get it to germinate? It's a gorgeous tree.
BTW, are you sure you're a gardener? Your hands are remarkably clean! :-) Or at least, the one we can see is.....
