am planing to open my garden for next year and collect money for RGT- Retired greyound trust...will send invites than.
Also NGS in 2 years!..They were a bit snobby..sorry not all of them..but the miserable bones that turned up in May ;-(

Some of them can indeed be snobby...what didn't they like in your garden?

Some of the fence isn't fully covered....mainly one that isn't mine..but that is in veg garden and it is covered in mid summer by beans .... and path in places...isn't fully leveled but it is made out of roof tiles....easily fixed..i've done it myself...so...so....aghr ;-)
The anoying thing was that she wasn't encouraging, if i was her..i would have offered revisit in Jul-Sep and see what has been done. She failed to see my Rose bushes, Primroses, Irises, Astible, Peonies, Jasmine and many more when telling me about scent in the garden...
When i ask her about her favourite plants ..a normal question among us gardeners i think, she paused for a while...(wake me up in the middle of night and i'll scream Heuchera! Heuchera! ;-)
She left me descouraged and annoyed...i feel like "do i really want to open my garden to public?!" also i found out i can only collect money for them chosen charitys... and i cannot fully relate to that...don't want to be mean...but i thought you can choose who you want to collect for! ;-(

am still bitter, can you tell?... ;-))))

PS: Some people i know go to NGS gardens and it is them telling me last year my garden was "good" for entry...so i felt i had a chance for next year..but now it is two....let's see what she says next year.... am sooo looking forward to that day! ;-)

What she told you about NGS Charities is not strictly true. You are allowed to say that a certain percentage will be donated to a charity of your own choice. If you sell plants and provide teas, that's also the case.

I do feel for you - she could easily have suggeted that you to get the path fixed if she thought it was a hazard... As for the fence - why did every inch have to be covered anyway?

Did she come when there wasn't a lot going on? If that was the case, then choose a time when you know that your garden looks at its best, and invite her for then. Don't feel bitter - some County Organisers are very 'picky' and it sounds as though you have one of those. :-((
