Slaughter Of The Innocents

Slaughter Of The Innocents (Thalictrum delavayi (Meadow rue))

Look closely at this photo, on the face of it a pretty picture of thalictrum delavayi, one of my all time favourite plants. It's so delicate looking, golden anthers, lovely. But what's that? ......a rogue sweetpea has leaned away from its mates and is gently attempting to strangle my dainty meadow rue. No-one warned me of these homicidal tendencies when extolling the virtues of sweetpeas:-(

Thalictrum is the pinky lilac one surely ? Train that menacing Sweet Pea away from it, gently though, tendrils are probably clinging on for dear life !

Hi Dieda, if you look really closely, you can see the sweet pea tendrils curling round the meadow rue. Orange flowers just trying to get in on the act and I noticed today a tendril reaching around them too. Shirley you are quite right, i've been out with my scissors! The sweet peas are almost over now the leaves are not looking too hot now, but only one has left the 'wigwam' and going bad ways lol:-)
