This is the one you used to have on your avatar pic? It's stunning!

5 Aug, 2010

yes it is but it is not so good this year, think the beetles have probably had a go at the bulb end - I like the colour on this one.

6 Aug, 2010

It is a really stunning lily. Do you know it's name?

6 Aug, 2010

No sorry Karen and I have never seen a picture of it on any of the lillies when I am in the garden centre, it was from Wilkos originally a few years back. I keep on looking for it though.

Never mind, I found some lovely ones today and bought them!

I've been trying to track this one down. It's so beautiful it deserves to have it's name. have a look at 'Bergamo' see if it could be that?

6 Aug, 2010

No not Bergamo that is pink this one is orange very similar apart from colour.

I think I might have sussed it Mum...what do you think? http://www.paghat.com/lily-arena.html

Had a look Karen think it is that one, it looks like it anyway. You should start a plant detective agency. lol. well done.

Isn't it lovely though? I really felt it should be 'discovered'. Next job, find a place to buy it! Better than watching telly, especially with all this terrible trouble in Libya. :((

It is a real beauty, one of my favourites. Hope they are all going to come back after all that bad weather, only problem is I have to hunt down the dreaded lily beetle over 100 hundred squished last year. Where do they all come from? Been out in garden last couple of days stuff is starting to show some sort of life in the borders, but think I have lost a couple of supposedly hardy geraniums, time will tell. Fingers crossed. xxxx

2 Mar, 2011

Oh no. Well, not all hardy Gers. are truly hardy are they. So far I can see most of mine coming up just a little. I can't find the lily to buy. The closest I can find is 'garden party'...the first one I thought it was when I started hunting. I'll let you know if I find any of 'arena' though. I've sent email to one nursery to see if they have any lurking in a corner somewhere! I don't have much faith in getting my lilies again this year. What with my cold wet clay. They like alkaline soil really and mine is slightly acid, so not much hope in the soil. I'm going to put my new ones in pots.

2 Mar, 2011

I have some in pots, we are clay and very wet in places and mostly they survive.

2 Mar, 2011

Well, there's hope then. :)

Well, yet again, no success in finding this lily Mum! I don't give up easily as you know, but so far no success. The closest I've found so far

and

Both of these are beautiful...I think I may just give up and go with these 2!

Think Muscadet rings a bell there Karen, but as you say they are both lovely so go for it. Not been on for last day or so, been up in Wakefield so only just got this message, we got cleared up with Sammies rubble etc and knocked down the garden shed ready for doing the garden in summer.

Ooooh! how exciting...a new garden to 'do'! Now, be careful you don't get carried away ;))))

15 Feb, 2012

lol....just discovered lily called 'Arena' thought...that's it!! Then looked above and found I had already found that one and that you thought it was the same! lol...trouble is, now I can't find any 'Arena' for sale! Oh well, got Muscadet any way. :) I sometimes wonder if I am living my life repeating the same stuff over and over and never realising.....dementia I think it is called!

15 Feb, 2012

I know it is exciting but she only WANTS grass lol I wonder how long or how old she will be before she is into gardening. lol.

16 Feb, 2012

Well, when she starts to enjoy being on the grass perhaps she will want some birds to share the space, and for that she will need some shrubs. And surely she would like a few flowers? ;)

16 Feb, 2012

Only time will tell Karen, I wait and hope!! lol

16 Feb, 2012

Well, two out of four aint bad! :)

16 Feb, 2012
