As I work as a professional gardener I have little time to work on my own garden during the growing season. This is about a sixth of the cultivated part of my garden. Other than cutting the lawn I spend less than 5 minutes a week on the garden . I achieve this by the use of close planting and using many low or lowish growing evergreen shrubs. The garden requires about 5 hours of work in the off season .. this is mainly just cutting back perennials and reducing their size when clumps get too big and as it is designed as a wild life garden I trim back the many insect attracting shrubs. The whole garden is roughly 60 feet by 40 feet.
