She is beautiful, for a spider ....

She's an engineer too...I've posted a pic of her egg case...The more I learn about these spiders the more I like/respect them.

These are, with out a doubt, my favorite ! They also have the prettiest webs.

We've had two weeks of extremely warm, (for us), humid weather...and breezy nights, which make things extremely dry... I've had a spider population explosion...found a male in the back garden and two females along the south fence, and the egg casing in the driveway! Sad that they are around for such a short time...I looked them up on BugGuide last summer and they are without a doubt the only spider I welcome. according to bugguide they may live for as long as two years in the tropics. I've damaged webs just by walking down a path....they are huge...and why is it that I meet them FACE first!?
