It should be a lot bigger next year Karen and flower for most of the summer, I kept a small one like yours and it is flowering in the bottom border now :-))

Yay, something else to look forward to! That border really needs more colour. it is brilliant in the spring with all the primulas, hellebores and pulmonarias, but the rest of the year, mostly just green. Today we bought two beautiful rhododendrons to give a bit more vertical interest and it's already looking more interesting. one of the rhodys has beautiful bronze foliage. I love it! I'll take a pic tomorrow.

Thanks Moti. Karen I have been planting Hygrangeas for some late colour and height, I love rhodos but have the wrong soil :-((

Oh! I thought you had the same kind of soil as me Ann! They like it acidic and I've never had any problems growing my rhodys. They are very popular around these parts of course, and all over Scotland for that matter, probably more on the west coast, but I do love their flowers and their evergreen habit. I do have a bit of a thing about getting evergreens in because our winter seems to go on from October to April, sometimes May and it's a long old haul waiting for the leaves to break in the spring......oh no, here it comes again :))

I'm with you all the way on evergreens Karen, I don't do bare patches in the winter. The hydrangeas all have back up :-))

Yes, your garden is a great example of all year round colour and greenery, that's why I've been so inspired this year by your planting Ann. I realised when I saw your garden that I had focused too much on trees and clematis and not enough on evergreens. I think the balance is gradually being improved now! :))
