Looks delightful.....

This reminds me of Jekyll... lavender, mullein, echinops, nicotiana sylvestris, pinks...kockia.??? I'd love to walk this garden...

Its a fair while ago Lori, but what I remember most is the heat, the atmosphere, the feeling of "age" like an old Italian garden..

part of the gardens at Hestercombe were done in the Edwardian style by Jekyll and the landscaping was Luytens... imagine the genius of those two!! Lucky you to see it first hand.

You will have to write and suggest they do a DVD for all those people abroad who cant get to see...they may just do it

Wonderful suggestion. I may just do that... with all the millions from the lottery funding they could expand their profile quite a bit by doing a series of DVD's on the gardens of the masters...a century or so along... I'd buy it.
