Myrtel arrived in Britain in 1585 imported by Sir Walter Raleigh from Spain. The leaves are a glossy dark green, and very fragrant. The flowers are a very pretty white, with beautiful beaded whiskers.

Yes Stickitoffee, it is the true Myrtel Mytraceae, and it is very fragrant, doing wonderfully well in our British summer climate, though, needing winter protection. Thank you Sixpence.

i love this myrtle ~ do you know the variety? is it very fragrant? does it need warm conditions to do as well as this?
