I would love enough space for this sort of thing..I love italian cypresses, they bring order and punctuate (sorry dont know where that word came from this early!) in a gentler manner..

The tall, almost black silhouette of the Italian cypress is unique. Will they grow in colder climates? That's a really interesting planting..with the boxwood, cypress and the tall alliums! (or are they alliums?) I see the lovely pink roses just beyond. The Elizabethans loved the knot gardens...

They like to be planted in sun, and the "Stricta" tolerates cold, but I would think not as cold as Zone 2 Lori! You could try one in a pot and see how it goes.

Rats! Well I'm going to have pots full of little Jacaranda, thanks to a California friend... maybe I should see if they are available here first...Then I could really have a full solarium. (if I had a solarium)
