The view from my back door

Hi Silverbell, we have similar back gardens - mine's 36ft x 18ft and sunny too, but flat as a pancake (as is all of Southport !). My soil is very sandy so warms up and dries out very quickly even though I apply LOADS of well rotted manure. I have managed to fit a small pond in (because I love watching all the wildlife associated with it !). I find the biggest problem is showing some restraint at plant sales/garden centres. :-)
