The hills are red granite and basalt rock...some of the oldest surface rock on earth. Home to white pine, juniper and maples and tamarack..( larch) oak and poplar...this late in October the only leaf colour left are the red of the oaks and the bright yellow of the poplars and tamarack.

Thanks Sandra! It is amazing country. The hard part is yet to come...packing and moving in winter. Can imagine what these roads would be like covered with snow...lots of hills and valleys can be dangerous and icy.

Lucky you, we love Ontario, so much to see. We really enjoyed our holiday there this year, must come back.

Hi Tog...Where did you holiday? Did you go to Algonquin Park? We are just south east of the park! I'll be working hard on my garden all next summer so if you find yourself in our neck of the woods give us a call. LOL...I'll put you to work.

I think I'll consult a medicine man, San. So far I've heard conflicting predictions for what our winter will be. Add to that the fact that we have about a week's grace; we can have contingency plans set to go if the weather turns bad we can put the driving off until it improves.
