Feijoa Sellowiana or Acca, the fruit salad plant or pineapple guava

Having a small bush of this at home, which has flowered but never fruited, I was impressed to see this small tree heavily in fruit, with lots of fallen fruit around the base. Obviously Gijon is an ideal climate for the Feijoa or Acca.

Update: June 2012. I have around a dozen 'babies' from this plant grown from the seed collected. They are growing away well and I have managed to help a friend who had lost his tree during the winter. I have also made a dozen or so cuttings from the 'babies'. Meanwhile the original tree I bought had lots of flowers this year but despite claims it is self fertile does not want to set fruit. I hope it won't be too many years before one of my 'babies' flowers at the same time and can be used as a pollinator.
