brrrrrrrr........oh no. The metal arch I got for here was not too expensive Mum and much stronger. £54 I think, from Tesco online. Mind you, will we ever get this again? It's pretty unusual isn't it! Perhaps you know someone that could run you up a proper timber arch like Shirley Tulip's!!

Don't think you can prepare for this sort of extreme Homebird, it is pretty unusual for us to get this much snow.
I think the metal ones have been in about 15 years, they were only cheap and not very strong, just pleased no-one was under it when it went Karen, I had just cleared the path of snow and down it went, Paul and I went back to clear up because we couldn't get down the path for snow and metal.

Shame really as I had a wild rose growing up and over it with the Russian vine and it was just beginning to look good, ah well back to the drawing board eh!

Russian vine was probably where you went wrong there. Terrible stuff!

It looked lovely with the evergreen fir tree and leylandii It hasn't taken over yet, the rose was heavy though.

about 18 inches, it takes some shifting from the paths it has broken down two of my metal arches - never done any pruning before in December (well not in snow anyway) but it fell across the main pathway and had to be cleared away, what a shame, it had just got going will have to re-think that idea next.
