First time this Magnolia has flowered in my garden

I think this 'Yellow Bird' magnolia looks rather spindly and not at all strong. Wondering if it has survived the winter. Have now acquired magnolia 'Red Lucky' and 'Daphne' (from Burncoose Nursery Cornwall) & hoping for great things from them!

Oh yes, they have a wonderful plant list don't they! I have a wishlist for them! Have you a huge garden with loads of room for these magnolias then mmad? I must confess, I have a small-ish suburban style plot and last week I counted 33 trees!! All small of course, but nevertheless, it is a bit OTT!

My garden is just over an acre. Haven't got room for many more plants or trees, but my weakness for magnolias has extended to 24 of them. Wada's memory is the latest, bought yesterday. Went to nursery for some violets but heard this magnolia calling me! And abandoned the violet search ......

LOL! Just like me with clematis! I have about 90 of them now! I'm trying really hard to give it up. I only have one on my wishlist at the moment! ;)

That's a real yellow isn't it. Lovely! I love all Magnolias, but the evergreen ones don't do so well up here. I have Heaven Scent, Susan and Leonard Messel. I'd have more if I had enough space! I'll never forget seeing the massive magnolia trees at Brodick Castle on Arran. That was when I realised that many of these plants grow up to become huge trees....Scotland has a lot of great Magnolia gardens. I think the great gardens of the south west and those of the north west have a lot in common..damp, acid soil and mild westerly winds.
