My poor garden looks so sad with no flowers.

You have a lovely tidy garden and it would not be much trouble to add some flowers in the form of bulbs or some winter flowering pansies or primulas. I wish mine was as tidy.

Thanks Scotsgran and San. Tidy but so boring this time of year! I have lots of bulbs poking through. The left side of the garden is being re-done this year I have just started getting nice flowering plants to go in 3 dahlias and lilies I have sweet peas in along with lots of other nice seeds to plant. I am planning to take out most of the big shrubs as they are getting so big and woody at the bottom. I plan to replace them with three Hydrangeas, Paniculata Vanilla fraise, Limelight and Annabel. Then between, I want to put lots of cottage garden plants.

Your plan sounds lovely. I planted Paniculata Pinky Winky last year and have been delighted with it. I was not aware at the time of buying but Hydrangeas will grow on a north facing site and are very hardy.

I love them, one of the few plants that can be planted almost anywhere.
