This creature was crawling on my bedroom wall yesterday...eeeeeewwwww! We had a little photo shoot before I released it back out into the wild ;)

I'm used to the little guys I find in the compost bin working hard to produce the black gold along with the earthworms...bet one or two of the giants would make an interesting feature in the compost heap. Would they survive in the wild in Georgia, Lauram?

no, they're from somewhere warmer than here! There is some sort of large millipede that I remember seeing on the Appalachian trail in NY, but not that big.

I used to have some pet giant millipedes - I got them for free when I worked in the reptile house at Zoo Atlanta. We had too many so I just took some home. They were probably about 6 inches long.
