So this is not a banana tree. It's a giant bird of paradise (as discovered by various GoY members!! thank you!!)

My giant bird of paradise survived the freeze(s) very well..it did lose a leaf that broke and can be seen in the picture...it also never unfurled, and I always wondered why. In the end it withered and I cut it off.
