One of my favorite native shrubs. It is often seen growing along streambanks.

The trails where I used to run - until the bridge was washed out 2 years ago - were bordered with this shrub. It was really a sight to see in the springtime....red flowers, ferns, foamflower, cardamine. The hills there are very steep but the beautiful plants took my mind off my aching legs. They say the bridge will be fixed this year.
