Remember to place it where it it is going to stay because they weigh a ton when they are empty but they are impossible to move once you have planted them up. I am finding some things are doing better than others and some are doing too well. I was going to put tufa on it and changed my mind. I think I may paint it green. The green clump in the centre is Armeria (sea thrift) and it has tried to takeover so I have removed it and will plant something less vigorous. The plant right back is Daphne odora a slow growing daphne. I had hoped it would flower this year but I am still waiting. It is growing. Back left is a miniture day lily. It did not stop flowering until the frosts came last year.

You have some nice things in it. I've got some sempervivums and sedums to go in mine, and a small dianthus aswell. I don't know where to put it yet though. Is yours in a sunny place ?

Only in the afternoon. It is in front of a wooden garage. It faces south towards the north face of the house which is 9.6m high. It is open to the west and our prevailing wind is from the west. To the east of it, is the stone built garages which shelter it from cold east winds, when they blow. I would say it is in an unlikely place. After I planted it I thought maybe it was in the wrong place, but it is working well. I have it set up on bricks to improve the drainage and I filled it with soil I had mixed myself in which to grow carrots. It has lots of sand and small grit to improve the drainage. It grew lovely carrots so I figured it was ideal. I put a small sprinkling of bonemeal in each planting hole but nothing else has been added. I am sending you a pm.
