They say if you plant marigolds near to beans , lettuce etc. it keeps greenfly away, have't tried it though. I have seen a lot of them about this year already, I had to spray my clematis as they are smothered in them.....ALREADY and its only April.!

yes we have marigolds - I heard slugs can't stand the smell and keep away
