I got this one at a Scottish Rock Garden Club Show in Edinburgh last year. I think I got it from Macplants or Kevock but I also bought plants from Edrom and I know all three sell trilliums. This is not one for a sunny border it has to be in shade and where I have mine I would say it is fairly deep shade but it is thriving beautifully. they are all on the web.

I had a quick look and none of those mentioned are selling these at the moment. All three are small independants with first class reputations. Maybe your best bet could be Kevock. They are mail order only but they do attend shows and farmers markets. They are a reputable nursery but the access is so awful down a very steep hill that they are not allowed to have retail customers. Their own home is at the top of the hill and they have a garden which slopes off at such a horrendous gradient they feel obliged to issue visitors with Nordic walking sticks. They hold Open days and I went also as part of a group visit with our gardening group. It is out of this world. The oohs and aahs of the visitors could easily compete with the dawn chorus. Edroms owner is a great guy. He keeps his sales area in lovely condition and the woodland is lovely to walk in for those of us who prefer level surfaces. Macplants is one of my favourites because it is not far from the city and again on a level surface. The mother and son team do a fantastic job. They have lots of perennials at reasonable prices in very good condition.

they all sound great ~ i looked up edrom and it says that the trilliums are too large to send ~ i think it meant they would send them in the autumn??
its lovely that you know so much about them; i would love to visit them all but its a bit far from here ~ sadly.

Next time you come up on holiday to Edinburgh let me know before hand and we can go visit Macplants and Edrom. I can pick you up at your B&B.

thats so very kind! if i ever get to come to edinburgh again i would want to stay in the same b and b ~ it was so lovely. hillside crescent i think ~ opposite royal terrace ~ definitely to be recommended!!

i DK the exact B&B but Hillside Crescent is easy enough to get to. If I had to pick up clients at the airport and take them out to dinner, I would always take them up to the top of Arthurs Seat, next to the Palace of Holyrood so that they could enjoy the panoramic views from the top. After dark on fine evenings I would take them out to see the Forth Rail Bridge. It is truly magnificent or was until some idiot thought it would look pretty with fairy lights on it. Yuck. I'm getting old and grumpy lol.

oh, havent seen the fairy lights!! i have seen the magnificent bridge. they should make you a guide. i do wish countries would employ their own citizens to be guides!!

The Bridge was never illuminated until some bright spark at the electricity board thought it would be a good idea, maybe at the millenium. Anyway these truly awful lights were installed which did nothing for the bridge, which had stood there in all its glory for 100+ years . It was ugly. The free running of them soon stopped and the councils were asked to pick up the bill. The lights have been reduced but why people think they are an improvement is beyond me. I'm sure you will find plenty of folk to disagree with me.

hmmm, i like lights but i cant quite understand why we are all being asked to cut down the amount we use but the council can light up a bridge??!!

I so agree Sticki.
