Strenth of perfume is always a big consideration for me when I buy a rose, but then some that they say are strong don't seem strong at all to me!

Mone only has tiny buds way behind yours

is it a bush shape rose or a climber?

Its a repeat blooming floribunda rose ST. The double high- centered flowers have a faint tint in the middle and are often used for a white rose bouquet, its has a great fragrance to.

sounds like a top rate rose ~ thanks Drc. is it ok against diseases?

I spray all my roses against blackspot and greenfly Sticki, however resistant they are supposed to be. Do it late at night when there is no wind. If you like Margaret Merrill you will love Chandos Beauty. A whisker better than MM but only just. I grow mine in pots..did a blog on it somewhere, giving them ratings. But with your shady garden I would recommend Souvenier de Dr Jamain, fabulous scent, deep velvet red, smallish flowers, loves shade but needs a little more TLC than some..Mine survived the cold hard winter, but it doesnt like it too wet.
Make sure it has great drainage. To me, its well worth the effort. You will see them soon anyway.

sounds lovely but its the white flowers i really love and they look good in the garden ~ stand out well in the shade.
but does margaret merrill or chandos beauty prefer to be in the sun?
5 May, 2011
It says on my label average disease resistant and it will tolerate a small amount of shade ST, mine is in full sun and last year I noted it flowered in June and then it was a continuous flowering

i would have to be careful where i put it in my garden then, thanks drc
some parts of the garden only get a couple of hours of sun at the best of the year ~ may/june/july
5 May, 2011
I suppose you would as roses mostly need sun.

We have it in sun but not all day, I am very fond of it, how often do you spray Tetra?

Roughly every month DD, I have so many cheek by jowl, it only takes one...if you ever get another DD, do get Chandos Beauty...its a glorious rose, fabulous smell..cant understand why I dont hear of it more.

If we get to you in June, and I have one in flower, I will bring it so you can see for yourself.
