Spiraea ' Bridal wreath' its 12 year old but still recovered well after last years hard prune

Lovely....I have 'snow mound'....Its massive, may have to remove it...Drc, do you think a hard prune would kill it?

Thanks ST and PG. Motinot as you know the best time to prune spring flowering Spireas is just after the shrubs finish blooming. Cut out any dead/spindly/broken branches either to the ground or to a spot where they join a healthy, live branch. Then prune by about a third for the next three years. This will make it flower again like it used to.
That's the right way to do it but if you are thinking of removing it anyway why not prune it heavily as I did some of mine last year after they flowered and this year they look much better. I also top dress them with garden compost each year.

Thanks Drc...When the shrub was younger it was quite easy to get in and prune....Its become so big and more to the point, so dense, its diffucult to get at....Perhaps i'll do the hard prune and see what happens...thankyou Drc...:>)
