here i have 2 massive conifers what to do my neighbour suggested getting rid of them i quite like them for nature and privacy reasons ok they need topping but to get rid completely nah

yeah had this argument last year goin to cost £200 for removal and she wont pay half as thier in my garden so without telling me she got a friend to hack her side straight up so the tree looks like its in half now but i agree they are taking alot of moisture out the garden hence no grass growth underneath i was willing to top them in half so thier half the size?

If they have hacked off one side and you cut them in 1/2 what will you be left with LL? One thought I had was cut down to just below the fence and add stump killer, then grow evergreen climbers over the bare trunks?

the conifers are going :( after some hard thinking ive decided to get rid as thier sapping to much sun and water from the garden just waiting for the ikkle baby chicks to leave the nest then thier gone.

I am with your neighbour on this LL. These can grow up to 5ft per year and take light, moisture and all the goodness from your garden. You could have a much prettier small tree to give you privacy and beauty and will attract more birds. You could suggest to the neighbour that they share 1/2 the cost of removing them as its them that want them gone?
