Sorry it took me a while to get the titles on the pics...these are a wild sour cherry...the fruit are very small and usually are consumed by the birds. This little island grouping caught my eye. Just behind closer to the river's edge there is an apple tree and you can just make out the beginning of blossom on a large lilac bush. These trees/shrubs grow absolutely unattended...I think they're wonderful.

True! :-) I'm getting to know the birds that are here as well as the plants and trees! every day's chock full of new stuff to learn.

Yes, my friend... I'm getting bruises from pinching myself! I really love the area we have moved to, and have met my neighbours and find them friendly. we're off to a pretty good start, I think. The above pic is not of my property but about 15kms. from home...down in the river valley. the little grove is on the floodplain of the Madawaska River...and I think it may have been an old homestead that has disappeared...all that remains are the flowering trees, maybe I should poke about to see if there are any perennials that have naturalized...like the delphiniums in Moosonee!
