Just remember, this is like cheese cake for the slugs. They love Othello very much. It becomes a beautiful plant in the deep shade, hates the sun.

Had Othello beside my pond in the last garden...it got a fair bit of sun...but did really well. I guess I was lucky to have slug loving toads in my last garden too..as I never had any problems..but that isn't the case here..so thanks for the reminder Adoons...will be sure to keep an eye...Desdemona is still in her pot but she is beside the pond in a very wet spot and seems quite happy...will take a quick look to make sure she's ok.

Really Lori, your could tolerate sun. I would like to move mine as it gets eaten to bits. Maybe the pot helps, will see if I can move my Othello & pot it.

I think moisture is the key to helping them tolerate the extra light...I give it copious waterings and it loves it. Guess that also depends on the soil you have it in too...is your's clayey or sandy? Desdemona is showing signs of too much sun, though. There is a quaking aspen about 30 ft from the pond and it throws dappled shade on the L.przwalskii...it is putting up lots of new growth...and I intended to put O and D fairly close to it...just bought an Eleagnus augustifolia..as I had one in the last garden and loved it..they grow very quickly so maybe I can place it near the pond for a bit more shade for the ligs.

Fabulous soil we have, so lucky. I think I will "pot" mine & keep it in the shade. Just to play it safe.

I'm still scratching along trying to find the right niche for things...and it's gradually coming together. Othello and Desdemona are going to be out near the bridge. Bought a canna to go in with them but it was completely rotted away when I opened the package. (my fault for the long delay, I fear.) Going to plant the Eleagnus in the family garden. (sector 1).
