Cinders it is a Scarlet Tiger Moth usually found in Fens and along river banks, feeds on shrubs and herbaceous plants!!told you OH would know lol

Thanks Dotty's OH. I have a little river behind my bottom fence, so thats where it came from I expect. It didnt hang around in my garden, it was very pretty.
Thanks Shirley, it was fortunate I had my camera in my hand, had to take it quickly so no time to set up anything. Pure luck.
