I just checked to see where you live Clarice, North of England, would that be near the sea as you have a seagull in your garden?

Richard i only live 10min walk from sea, put abit of bread out and they have it, Dawn its been really bad here, it was lovely Tuesday,then they gave rain for us till Friday, but touch wood this last two days its rained in the night, and i dont mind it raining while i'm in bed. Where aboutsin Blackpool does your uncle live.

I found out from Springwatch that "seagull" is a misnomer and that they don't prefer the coast - plenty of pickings inland if they are not the kind that like to have particular coast nest-sites.
It would explain why I keep seeing gulls inland and thinking - hm, what are they doing so far from the sea?!
