I was wondering about that. I have a thing for aubretia, I think it would hate our frequently waterlogged clay garden but it might like that pot.

Look at Phlox subulata - emerald blue and candy strip but there are lots to chose from, it would creep over this area and be very striking also it looks good after the flowers have finished.

It will romp along in the ground.
I have a clay garden and lots of aubretia they thrive here so worth trying......
