Lythrum salicaria 'Feuerkerze'

Lythrum salicaria 'Feuerkerze' (Lythrum salicaria)

I have 'Robert' on the stream bank, one each end. The older plant isn't doing too well, so I've planted this one next to it. It's very similar.

It's lovely, the name "firecandle" is so appropriate. Showing off my language skills!!!

In fact, the spelling should be 'Feuerkerze'... :)
We have a wild variety of purple loosestrife in Canada that is extremely invasive, and it's spreading into wetlands and ditches, crowding everything else out. See:

You can purchase a hybrid variety in nurseries now that doesn't spread viable seeds, as it's a very decorative plant.

Ooops! I should have noticed the mistake, so thank you Elke. I've edited the title. :-)

I grow the native Loosestrife on my stream bank. Luckily, it isn't invasive here. It looks great in flower.

See who else is growing Lythrum salicaria.

See who else has plants in genus Lythrum.
