Side Border up path to what I call the peace garden

So quiet up there apart from birds singing, this is where the Thrush built her nests, all fledged safely and away now. That makes 7 babies in total this year. I have been so lucky to see these thrushes in their nests, they built them just at the right height for taking pictures.

What very considerate Thrushes they were! A rare event to see a Thrush in our garden . . . .

We have had them for a number of years now, they had a nest at the front door one year, but never saw it until they were about to fledge, this year we saw them going in and out of christmas tree, we eventually found their nest and they fledged 4 out of 4 the first time, second time they nested in a clematis and only 3 survived out of the 4 eggs hatched. Just hope they all survived have seen two being fed since they fledged by parents so hopefully all the others have lived. Rotten lousey weather to try and bring young birds up in isn't it?

Fingers crossed for them ... I sheared back some of the neighbour's Bay tree today and nearly jumped out of my skin when a Blackbird flew out from within it! Neighbour has since told me there is a Robin's and a Blackbird's nest in there ... that explains why Megan cat is always hanging around that part of the garden. : o ((

Tell Megan she is not to catch the birds, she can look but not touch. lol. Bless they are funny cats, their concentration is amazing. We had a cat once who used to sit under a tree and wait for squirrels, she was always bringing them back to the house - dead - but how on earth she managed to catch them I do not know. She must have had fantastic reflexes. Very clever are cats, I find them fascinating.

I'll tell her, but she'll keep on bringing Mice to the back door. About 2 or 3 each week now. Thank goodness we don't have a catflap! Amazing for a cat to catch a Squirrel, she must have been very, very quick . . . .

She lived to be a great age think she was 15 about when she died, had lots of kittens also. Bless her she was a lovely fluffy cat. Very affectionate lived outside all her life - she came as a stray and was a very independent personality. We do not have cats anymore, one day maybe if I didn't have my old dog I might get one again.
