I love Marigolds and my 21 year old car.

Marigolds are such a lovely plant and so easy to grow from seed.

Not so keen on marigolds, but 190's are a modern classic! Recently sold a 1986 190e for just over four grand!

Thank you Cinderella.

Priceless, in as much as good ones are hard to find!
The one that we sold was a peach - 21000 (yes 21k) from new with full Mercedes service history (serviced every year regardless of mileage). Garaged in a heated garage! The late owner was so fastidious that the unused spare tyre was replaced as it was perished!! Sold too cheaply really, but its specification was so so.....

Assuming that it's as nice as it looks, depending on spec and history, sub 100000miles could fetch £1500/£1750 (very low mileage will get more/much more) depending on the buyer. These and the 124 series are becoming quite sought after depending on the above.
I sold my 124 estate two years ago and kick myself every time that I see it! I have a 500SEL that has been parked up for two years - charged the battery up a couple of weeks ago and it fired up on the button!
As you can tell, I love 'em!

Thanks Meanie, I am no mechanic, have it for about 14 years , 135,000 miles on it, had no idea what price they wear.Never lets me down, great car don't think I would ever sell it. Road tax here is 700 euro a year (crazy)

The 190 series had recently been introduced when I started my apprenticeship at Mercedes - the mechanics were grumbling about how crap they were compared to the old models (too much plastic and so on). They, and me, have all owned at least one, and it has turned out to be a truly great model!
The timing chain tensioner should be cleaned every 36000 miles, and if it's an auto the transmission oil and filter replaced at the same frequency. The head gasket will leak on cylinder no.4 at some time in its life (missfire on start up, coolant going missing) and that's pretty much it!
For such an old car, they ride and handle beautifully.

Thanks Meanie,I will keep a record of what you said.

very very pretty - nice one!!!

Love the pots..it looks soo neat! Love the car too, altho I always wanted a 250SL (?) the sporty one with a soft and hard top (hope I got this right Meanie, Im not a car buff!!).
Saw a lovely blue one with white upholstery once when we went to Ascot (about 30 year ago) and desired one ever since!!

Tetrarch - the 250SL was part of the "113" model range (a car that I still lust after) which was produced from 1962(ish) through to 1971. The 250 variant was only produced for two or three years ('64/5 to '68). Mint examples of this model can fetch upwards of 70 grand now!
The 113 series was replaced by the "107" model which was produced from 1971 up to 1989.

Ah well, just get to the stage where we can afford to buy a car, and the one I would really like (okay, yes, lust after!) I cant afford without a mortgage lol!

21 Jul, 2011

I'm lucky Tet - I get to drive them reasonably often.

21 Jul, 2011

Is it a "driver's car" Meanie? Im sure you know what I mean!

21 Jul, 2011

It's a lovely car to drive Tet, although not one that that you would want to drive fast across country (much too valuable for that sort of driving).

21 Jul, 2011

Sounds good Meanie, I do like a car that allows me to drive, not trys to drive me if you know what I mean..I hate automatics for that very reason.

21 Jul, 2011

You would struggle to find one (apart from the 230SL, which is underpowered) with a manual box Tetrarch.

21 Jul, 2011

You mean to tell me that Im just about to fall out of love with the car of my dreams...they are automatics????? Ohhhh...the end of life as I know it!!!

21 Jul, 2011

Manuals are available Tet, but they're as rare as rocking horse poo!

22 Jul, 2011

And that's RARE! LOL! Just out of interest I sent an email in answer to an add, cos there was no price..I was upfront and said I doubted I could afford..had a nice note back with a list of cars showing prices from £45K thru to £70K..all automatic and one or two rhd. I sent back saying we will def. be in touch if we win the lottery!!

22 Jul, 2011

As I say, they're in demand!!
As classics go they're very sensible, with all parts still being available from Mercedes.
