home sown marigolds. These are so easy to grow and produce so much seed for the next year that you never need to buy any more.

I sow the seeds on the surface of compost in a tray. I don't prick out, just let them grow a few inches tall before planting them fairly close together in the spring. These plants are as tough as anything.
