The new fence

You have had to make some life changes in the last few years and quite rightly selling off some garden although sensible is sad for you.
This garden area is already very nice. - I wonder if painting it will make the fence seem even more dominant to you?
I think if it were me I would put something in front of the fence that looks up the garden, a garden mirror to reflect the garden back or a bench with a tall back, where you can sit and look this way? The other idea is to add a ring handle/hinges and make that bit of fence look like a gate? psychologically it would make the other side seem as if it is still accessible to you? Enough from me - some other members will make further suggestions re plants etc, good luck with it.

Agree with Drc regarding the use of mirrors. They really can make a big difference.

thks Drc & Lil, there are some really good ideas there. I especially like the one about making the fence look like a gate. Also the mirror idea would be a good one for the other side of the garden, which is a bit more shady - so lots of food for thought. - I will look out for a mirror, might be able to salvage one from an old wardrobe?? got my creative juices going now! Ill post another picture when Ive done.

If you go to the bottom of this page the large letters are for Goypeadia click on G and then select Garden mirrors and you will see what other members have done with mirrors. Like wise Gates, a couple of members recently have shown photos of fake gates.

Good idea's Lady's :) I think if you use a light coloured treatment on your fence PoppyL it will make it stand out more, hub did that with our new fence in the back garden and it got on my nerve's lol, my eye was drawn to it every time i went out, so i sprayed it dark brown, ahhhh thats better, it disappeared hehe..

There's a little path leading down to the fence on the left-hand side. I have managed to buy a cheap arch- top gate from ebay, which I plan to place at the end of the path to hopefully give the illusion of a secret garden. Well that's the idea anyway, I'll post another pic when I've done - got to get the gate off the roof rack!
