Unknown Lily, 4yrs in Garden

Unknown Lily, 4yrs in Garden

This was the first lily I put in. I had not yet learned about planting bulbs and since they were sprouted, I planted them sideways. Of course I saw no sign of any of them, but one stole through two boards and found the light to bloom just at first frost. Then the next year, 10 baby lilies came up in its position. Then the next, 8 skinny lillies. This year I moved the whole clump to a new position in the new perennial bed and formed the whole wild thing into a more established clump. What a reward I'm receiving. I'll have to name it something I guess. Maybe, Miracle? :-)

It obviously forgave your lack of knowledge, it could be worth planting a couple sideways just to see if I can get as many bulblets as you did, if it works I could save myself some money, lol.
Lovely colours Gt..

I read an article that wrote: If not sure how to plant a bulb then plant it sideways...

Interesting theories. I wonder if it would work each time. Really make a clump in a hurry if you've got a few years. I did only get one out of all six to come back the next year. Only difference, this one was in very new compost in a raised bed. Warmed quickly and wasn't overly wet. (this is my first pic to double post itself) lol

Looks like 'grand cru'...

It definately looks like grand cru. I am just not sure of the size. These are just 12-18 inches. Not a big one like those grand cru seem to be. Although they may all be the same name regardless of size as well. Thank you Motinot. I'm penciling it in. :-)
